Ardscoil Mhuire Donates to Limerick’s Haven Hub

€706 Raised During School Community Fundraiser

Following another successful fundraiser in October, the staff and students of Ardscoil Mhuire were delighted to donate all proceeds to Limerick’s Haven Hub, an incredibly worthy organisation, and one close to the hearts of our school community.

Soon to be located at the Limerick Social Services Centre, Haven Hub will be an after-hours service created where a number of suicide prevention and search and rescue groups, along with other individuals passionate about suicide prevention, come together in the hope of helping distressed individuals and their families. Haven Hub will be a safe place for people distressed or contemplating suicide, where suicide-prevention trained volunteers will listen and assist in coming up with a safety plan until the appropriate services can be accessed.

Key to Haven Hub’s mission is a commitment to a warm and supportive environment, with volunteers endeavouring to stay connected with at risk people in the days after they access its services, as well as supporting the families of people with mental health difficulties.

All funds raised are vital, and will be used to cover insurance, the training of volunteers, supplies, and running costs.

Sincere thanks to Leona O’Callaghan and John Nugent for stopping by to collect the €706 raised by our staff and students, which was gladly handed over by Mr Madigan, Paige and Laura on behalf of Ardscoil Mhuire’s school community. Paige is a huge advocate of the Haven Hub as her sister Yasmin recently passed away in tragic circumstances. Paige commented that ‘The work carried out by the Haven Hub offers an invaluable service to those suffering from Mental Health issues and to their families. I am delighted that this service will be available in the very near future and I wish them well.’
