Drama Club

This term saw the emergence of Ardscoil Mhuire’s Drama Club.  All students were invited to join this after school activity.  Admittedly there were a few raised eyebrows.  “Would we be studying plays?”  “Would we have an audience looking at us?”  “Would we have to learn lines?”  “Has this anything to do with bloody Shakespeare?!?”  Needless to say students crept very slowly into the library on that first Tuesday.

Drama Club turned out to be nothing like what students imagined.  The emphasis is very much on fun and letting yourself go.  Various teamwork exercises had students tied up in knots (literally) while improvisation games sparked their imagination.  The mixture of physical activity and mind games combined to create much laughter and wonderful performances.

Drama Club will continue next September.  Everyone is welcome and no previous drama experience is necessary.  All that is required is an open mind and a desire to have fun.
